Baldwin Park, CA (August 4, 2015) – The excitement is building toward the Park Plaza on Maine Mexican Independence Day Fiesta on September 12. Park Plaza on Maine, located at the intersection of Ramona Boulevard and Maine Avenue in Baldwin Park, invites youth to enter two contests as a preview to the Fiesta. The Piñata Design Contest will award monetary donations to winning schools and youth cause-related organizations, and teen girls who will celebrate a 15th birthday in September through December 2015 can enter the Quinceañera Contest for the opportunity to win great prizes from Park Plaza on Maine merchants.
Groups from schools, churches and community organizations comprised of elementary through high school grade level youth can enter the Piñata Design Contest. A “group” can be comprised of youth from an elementary school class, a cheer team, high school club, Scout Troop to members of the Boys and Girls Club, church, YMCA, or other organization. The contest, which will award more than $1,000 in prizes, is also an artistic educational experience for the children or teen groups, who will work together to decorate a piñata for the contest.
School or other adult representative from non-school groups can pick up a FREE undecorated piñata, while the supply lasts, at one of the following locations:
Park Plaza on Maine booth at the Baldwin Park Downtown Street Market which will be held on Maine Avenue between Ramona Boulevard and Palm Avenue, on Thursdays from August 20 – September 3 from 5 – 9 p.m.
Park Plaza on Maine Event Headquarters, next to Subway, on Thursdays, August 20 and 27 from 2 - 5 p.m.; and on Thursday, September 3 from 2 – 5 p.m.
Youth groups will bring the decorated piñata entries to the Park Plaza on Maine Fiesta headquarters on Saturday, September 12 by 11a.m. for display and judging by category: elementary, middle and high school divisions; non-school organization division, with special awards for Most Colorful, Most Creative, Most Beautiful, and Most Artistic pinatas. Fiesta attendees can vote for their favorite entry to receive the People’s Choice Award.
Park Plaza on Maine is proud to honor the traditional Quinceañera tradition. Four girls, each who will celebrate a 15th Birthday in September, October, November or December this year, will be selected by random drawing of entry forms. The four winners will be presented on stage at the Fiesta to receive wonderful prizes from Park Plaza on Main merchants. Entry forms are available at the above piñata entry locations or by email request to email@example.com. Deadline to submit entries in the Quinceañera Contest is September 10.
The Pinata Design and Quincinera Contests awards will be presented at the Mexican Independence Day Fiesta on Saturday, September 12 from 12 – 4 p.m. at Park Plaza on Maine. Everyone in the family will enjoy the Fiesta with Radio Centero 93.9 remote with Burbuja, free carnival games, rides, prize drawings, merchant hosted activities, Mariachi and Folkloric dance performances. Present a receipt with the Fiesta date of September 12, 2015 to take a free pony ride, Pony rides can also be purchased for $2.
